Meet the "Stars" at Horses for Hope
Apache

HOME
Sox is an older gent - his breed is Quarterhorse, and as his name indicates, he has white socks - a full set of two pairs!  He has a black mane, tail and legs and a white star on his sweet face.  He's a good natured, congenial guy and the father of Diablo.
Our largest mare is Sienna.  She's a lovely Sorrel Quarterhorse and has a white blaze on her face, one white pastern and one white half pastern.  She was won in an internet contest when she was just 18 months old and having her in our herd makes us real winners!
Diablo means "Devil" in Spanish, but our Diablo does not live up to his name!  Born in 1992, he's our resident "teenager" so sometimes he's very energetic.  He's a fiery red sorrel with a bald (white) face.  Diablo is a Quarter-Pony (1/2 quarter horse-1/2 pony).  He inherited 3 white stockings from his dad (Sox).  His bright walleyes (bluish white) attest to his lively character.
IN MEMORY OF PREE...

Apache is the winner of the "Mr. Congeniality" award.  This bay grade quarterhorse with a white stripe on his face and one white pastern is 100% sweet from the bottom of his feet to the tips of his ears!  Apache is our old reliable summer camp horse and visits us each summer.
There are five miniature horses at Horses for Hope
Shamu, is named after the famous Sea World star because of his black and white coat.  His other distinguishing feature is his one walleye.  He’s 8 yrs old and came to HfH as a donation from a local miniature horse breeder.  He’s the dominate male in the mini pen.
Shamu
Clay is chestnut colored and his white blaze seems to slide off one side of his face, making him even more precious!  His sweet, affectionate, complacent nature endears him to everyone he meets.
Clay
Sergeant is the smallest of the miniature horses.  He looks like a walking chunk of chocolate and has a tiny white star on his tiny brown face.  What he lacks in size he makes up for with his charming personality!

Meet Strawberry... our newest and largest mini - donated to us in the summer or 2006.  She's real scared of people due to a possible abusive past but she has settled in real well and knows we won't hurt her.
Strawberry
I'm the newest mini here at Horses for Hope.  My name is Bucky and I was born on April 28, 2007 - Strawberry is my mom.
Thunder came in with a bang - the young "buck" who has challenged Sox as herd leader.  They now have an understanding and he is "in" the crowd!  Thunder is a firey red sorrel Walking Horse mix.
Buster
Buster is the youngest of our lesson horses. He was not raised with other horses so he is learning "how to be a horse"  Flash is doing a great job teaching him!  Buster is a tri-color buckskin Quarter Horse / Arabian mix.
Flash
Flash is our young colt - a sorrel Paint Horse.  He will some day be a Horses for Hope lesson horse.  He has a good mind like his mom Classie (former therapeutic and lesson horse).  He will be small since his mom was malnurished while she was pregnant and later while he was nursing until Catie purchased them (rescued really) from their prior owner and fattened Classie right up.
Reggie
Reggie was donated to HfH in the spring of 2008.  He came all the way from Virginia near Chincoteague taking the trip under the ocean to get to HfH.
Diablo
Sienna
Sox
Thunder
Hank is our newest member to Horses for Hope.  He is a young quarter-pony (like Diablo) and loves to be around people.  Watch out Diablo... I'm coming to steal the kid's hearts away!
