| If you are interested in having your child participate in therapeutic riding or regular riding lessons please send us an e-mail with either "therapeutic riding" or "lessons" in the subject line of your e-mail. If the slot you are interested in is full we can put you on a waiting list. The following is how we determine which class your child will be evaluated for placement: HfH has started a Jr. Instructor Program. Our head instructor will teach students how to instruct riders over a 6 week period. Each Jr. Instructor must pass a test at the end of the 6 week period to progress to the next instructional level. To qualify for this program the student must have already mastered and passed the tests of the riding level they are teaching. This is a progressive learning experience - for more information send us an e-mail with Jr. Instructor Progam in the subject line. Therapeutic Riding is for special needs children only and taylored for the childs specific needs - please email for more information. Lessons for able-bodied children: Beginner: Little or no riding experience - walk, trot only. Beginner Advanced: Some riding experience, must be able to control the horse properly at a walk and trot and ready to learn how to ride at a canter. Able to master basic Western or English Pleasure show sequence. Intermediate: Must be able to properly control the horse at a walk, trot and canter. Will learn other advanced maneuvers on the horse such as recognizing proper lead and diagonals, side pass and trotting poles. Intermediate Advanced: Ready to begin training for specific tasks and disciplines such as barrel racing or jumping. Has mastered leads and diagonals, turning on forehand and haunches and side passes. Bareback at a trot and canter. Advanced: Has mastered leg reining, small jumps and flying lead changes at a canter. Mastering disciplines such as reining, freestyle, barrel racing, jumping, and high level dressage. Each rider will be tested at each level before advancing to the next level - the rider will need to pass a written test as well as a ground and riding test. As they advance to new levels, testing will become more difficult and they will be required to pass the riding test on different horses as well. Please e-mail for more information or if you'd like to be placed on a waiting list. |
